Silas Norcross (Age 24)

Silas is currently attending Community Connections of Fairhaven, Ma. Although unable to access the computer by standard methods, Silas, who also has difficulty speaking, is able to access his laptop computer by using a head-pointing device known as a head-mouse.

It consists of a reflective dot, which is placed on his forehead when he is using the computer. Used in conjunction with software that controls the mouse click function, Silas is able to control the computer without ever touching a mouse or keyboard! The software programs use computer-generated speech to speak for Silas.

Silas enjoys playing Monopoly with family and friends. With the use of his laptop - he is able to "roll" the dice reminding us all "Not to cheat - or he'll call the cops!"

Tim is extremely proficient in using his Freedom 2000 laptop and software to write, speak and play games.

Spastic quadriplegia prevents Tim from using a standard mouse and keyboard, however, Tim can access everything on his laptop with the use of a head switch and appropriate software!

Tim is beginning to access the Internet and has agreed to write some articles for this website about his experiences using assistive technology.

Tim enjoys music, writing, playing games and is VERY excited about moving into his own home in the near future.
